Dallas Cowboys rookie running back Bo Scarbrough is setting the bar high for his rookie campaign. One of his many goals is to be the NFL's best running back duo along with teammate and fellow running back Ezekiel Elliot. Scarbrough was the Cowboys' seventh-round draft pick in the 2018 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He is a big, powerful bruising back who will compliment Ezekiel Elliot nicely.
Scarbrough caught up with TMZ to discuss his goal for this season and he had this to say, "My main thing is to come in and we're trying to win this Super Bowl." The past three seasons Scarbrough was at Alabama, he played in three national championship games in which his team won two of them, so winning the big prize is something he is used to doing.
Scarbrough will be looking to participate in rookie minicamps which will start this weekend, as rookies get acclimated and then translate into organized team activities. Rod Smith is expected to be the Cowboys number two running back behind Ezekiel Elliot as the Cowboys start their offseason programs.
As the interview wrapped up with TMZ he was asked if he wanted to say anything to Ezekiel Elliot, "Zeke, help your boy out," Scarbrough said. "We are coming in, working together, and trying to win. We're trying to be the best duo that ever came through the NFL."
What to look forward to in training camp
We still have a couple months before training camp kicks off and I can't wait until it gets here.
In the meantime, we will discuss which battles we will look forward to. One of the battles I am looking forward to is the running back position between Rod Smith and Bo Scarbrough.
We do know that Rod Smith is expected to be the number two running back behind Ezekiel Elliot, he was a good insurance policy for when Elliot was suspended for six games last season.
Scarbrough has a chance to showcase his talent and skills and compete for the third running back spot and possibly the number two spot. The advantage Smith has over Scarbrough is the fact he can play special teams and come in on third down. That is the one question mark as to why Scarbrough fell in the draft. He can be a factor in short yardage situations and on the goal line, so lets see these two hungry players battle it out on the field.
Will the Cowboys be top five in offense?
The Cowboys last season had so many obstacles and distractions all season long where every week we didn't know if our running back Ezekiel Elliot was going to be available. We had left tackle Tyron Smith in and out of the lineup dealing with a back injury dating back to last season, and linebacker Sean Lee missed five games.
In the 2016 season, we had the best offensive line in Football, the rookie of the year in quarterback Dak Prescott [VIDEO] and the best running back in the NFL in Ezekiel Elliot. The Cowboys were top five in offense that year and were tearing up the league as they had a record of 13-3.
I truly believe the Cowboys can get back to one of the best offenses in the NFL as they have added depth along the offensive line and drafted an offensive guard to play next to Tyron Smith [VIDEO] and Travis Frederick for the next four years. That bodes well for Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot as they can play to the best of their abilities and play football the Dallas Cowboys knows how to play.
