A lot of people seem to want to throw Kevin Love under the bus as a big reason that the Cleveland Cavaliers are struggling right now. With the Cavaliers series against the Indiana Pacers tied up at three, and the final deciding game coming up in Cleveland on Sunday, Love needs to step up to help LeBron James and company win and move on to the second round. However, many people including head coach Tyronn Lue, have talked about Love's struggles and what has possibly caused his problems. The one person who has stuck by Love is LeBron but after some recent comments, it sounds like he isn't returning the love.
Kevin Love talks LeBron James affect on Cavs
While people are now blaming Kevin Love and his struggles to stay healthy and hit his shots, the big area of blame throughout the entire season has revolved around LeBron James and his impending free agency. LeBron can opt out of his Cavs deal at the end of this season and leave the team, and according to Love, that might be part of the reason for Cleveland's struggles.
According to Kevin Love, no one knows what LeBron James is planning on doing at the end of the season -- not even his teammates. Some analysists believe that LeBron is leaving and it is a done deal. Love said that is not a fact yet and it is hurting the Cleveland Cavaliers as they try to advance in the playoffs.
Kevin said that he and his teammates are thinking a lot about whether or not LeBron James will be back -- and if he leaves, that this could be it for their postseason hopes. According to the Cavs star, this is weighing heavily on the players and the coaching staff and will continue to affect their postseason play as a result.
Kevin Love's struggles
While Kevin Love says that LeBron James keeping his free agency decision a secret from his teammates and coaches is hurting the team's play this postseason, the Cleveland Cavaliers head coach has targeted him for lackluster play as well.
Kevin is averaging a low 11 points a game, although he is close to a double-double with 9.8 rebounds.
Love has also had to sit out during key parts of games as well due to injuries. According to Lue after the Game 6 loss, Love is suffering from fatigue since he is having to chase around smaller, quicker players. In an interview on Saturday, Lue said that Love's thumb injury is also hampering his play.
One thing that has been evident all season is that Kevin Love is also out of position. Lue has him playing center with Larry Nance Jr. as a bench player and Love has excelled at power forward over his entire career. It isn't just Love to blame, but the Cleveland Cavaliers schemes in the postseason.
Another injury problem
Kevin Love isn't the only person suffering from injury problems for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cavs have been missing their starting point guard George Hill for the last three games with back spasms due to a pick by Trevor Booker. Jose Calderon has been starting in his place. Heading into the deciding Game 7, Hill remains questionable when the Cavs need him the most.
