Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey was put in the spotlight after he declared that they will win the Super Bowl. Ramsey made the comment in a rally in Jacksonville as they celebrated their 45-42 win over the heavily favored Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC divisional round, earning a showdown with the defending Super Bowl champions New England Patriots. Earlier, two Patriots players – special teams member Matthew Slater and safety Duron Harmon – took the high road as they reacted to Ramsey’s claim. Slater said Ramsey has the right to be confident about the Jaguars’ chances because he’s having a great season.

Ramsey finished the regular season with six interceptions and was named a first-team All-Pro. “I’d be confident if I were him, as well,” Slater told the media, per WEEI.com.

Harmon said he was not surprised by Ramsey’s claim as talking trash is part of his game. However, Harmon admitted that Ramsey is a good player on a really good football team so he expects the Jaguars to be ready for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game showdown.

Brady speaks about Ramsey’s boast

Now, it’s quarterback Tom Brady’s turn to address Ramsey’s boast. During an interview with Kirk and Callahan, Brady said he doesn’t put much thought into what Ramsey said: “I think what I have learned for a long time is it’s how you play, it’s not what you say,” said Brady, adding that everyone has different ways of handling things.

While Brady admitted that Ramsey is a good player and has a lot of strength, the game will be decided on who plays the best and not on “who hypes the best or speaks the best.”

While he’s not concerned about what Ramsey said, Brady is worried about what the Jaguars cornerback can do on the field. “I am more concerned about how he plays,” said Brady, adding that the Patriots will be ready to score points against Ramsey.

Patriots busy preparing for Jaguars

According to Brady, the Patriots are busy preparing for the Jaguars, who have allowed the second-fewest points in the league and own the No. 1 ranked pass defense. Brady said the team has been watching a lot of film in the past few days as part of their preparation. The Jaguars and Patriots held a joint practice in August and played in the preseason, where Jacksonville emerged a 31-24 winner. Brady said the Jaguars are the best team they’ve face all season, adding that their season will be over if they don’t play their best game come Sunday.
