As week three of the NFL preseason comes to a close, a number of key injuries are starting to pile up around the NFL. The Kansas City Chiefs got bad news regarding starting running back Spencer Ware following his MRI after being injured the other day. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys fear that they may have lost starting middle linebacker Anthony Hitchens for the season and the Buffalo Bills saw quarterback Tyrod Taylor suffer a concussion.

MRI reveals Ware has torn PCL

Hours after Spencer Ware was carted off the field during Friday's preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks there was optimism around his injury.

Ware had not torn his ACL but suffered a PCL injury. However, a further MRI's on his knee revealed that the running back had completely torn his PCL.

Kansas City Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder also said that he had suffered damage beyond the PCL to his LCL. Ware will get a second opinion on the injury but will likely have to undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee. The team's third-round rookie out of Toledo, Kareem Hunt, will now serve as the starting running back with Charcandrick West and CJ Spiller serving as backups.

Cowboys Hitchens has torn ACL

During yesterday's preseason game against the Oakland Raiders, starting Dallas Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens went down with a right knee injury towards the very end of the first quarter.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that sources told him that the team's fears Hitchens tore his ACL ahead of his MRI, which is scheduled to take place today.

The Cowboys may have to move last year's second-round pick Jaylon Smith to play middle linebacker, even though he has barely played this preseason. Smith is coming off a serious knee injury he suffered in college that cost him his entire rookie season.

Linebacker Damien Wilson could also fill the role but he is facing a possible suspension for assault charges from July. Another possible option is veteran backup Justin Durant.

Tyrod Taylor suffers concussion

In the first quarter of last night's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens, Tyrod Taylor suffered a concussion.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback suffered the injury after he landed hard on the back of his head while being sacked. It is known how long Taylor could miss while being in the concussion protocol, as the procedure is not one size fits all. Taylor's backup is rookie fifth-round pick out of Pittsburgh Nathan Peterman.
