The New Orleans Saints received bad news today about an injury that their left tackle, Terron Armstead suffered in practice. Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts have already had to put recently signed running back Christine Michael on injured reserve. Finally, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced that their young up-and-coming cornerback Jalen Ramsey had to undergo surgery.

What is Terron Armstead's injury?

During Wednesday's practice Terron Armstead tore the labrum in his shoulder and is expected to miss four to six months. This is the same injury that Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker recently suffered, a move which prompted the team to trade for Greg Robinson. As of now the New Orleans Saints have no idea if Armstead will return at some point towards the end of the 2017 regular season.

This is a huge hole for the team to fill as Armstead is one of the best young left tackles in the NFL and was given a five-year contract extension last summer. Based on last season when Armstead missed nine games, Andrus Peat is the likely candidate to replace him. Peat moved from left guard to left tackle last season to fill in for Armstead and speculation is that this is what the Saints will do again.

Christine Michael heads to IR

Only 16 days after Christine Michael signed with the Indianapolis Colts he is headed to injured reserve. He went down with a unknown injury the other day in minicamp. Michael has played 37 games over the past four seasons with the Seahawks, Cowboys and Packers. For his career he has 254 carries for 1,080 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns.

Michael was expected to compete for the backup job behind Frank Gore with Marlon Mack and Robert Turbin. To replace him the team signed second-year running back Troymaine Pope. In his rookie season Pope played in four games, one with the Jets and three with the Seahawks. He had 12 carries for 44 rushing yards.

Jalen Ramsey has surgery

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced today that starting cornerback Jalen Ramsey underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury. The team would not say if he would be ready for the start of training camp on July 26th, but the expected recovery time for his injury is around six weeks.

Ramsey issue a statement saying that he would "attack this rehab" and "refine my body." As a rookie out of Florida State he played in and started every single game. He had 65 tackles, 14 defended passes, 2 interceptions, 1 forced fumbles and a defensive touchdown during his rookie season.
