Recently released free agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has decided what team he will play for in the upcoming 2017 season. The Los Angeles Chargers gave their starting linebacker Melvin Ingram a contract extension, while their former offensive tackle King Dunlap announced his retirement. Finally, newly unretired Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch had the best-selling jersey in the NFL for the month of May.
Jeremy Maclin's new team
The Baltimore Ravens and Jeremy Maclin agreed to a two-year contract, giving him a new home and the team the help they need at wide receiver.
Maclin chose the Ravens over the Philadelphia Eagles, with the Buffalo Bills never really being a serious candidate. He will also get free crab cakes for the length of his deal, as Jimmy's Seafood in Baltimore offered Maclin free crab cakes for however long the length of his deal was.
Getting Maclin is an upgrade for the Ravens, as the only return receivers on the team who made at least 30 catches last season were Mike Wallace and Breshad Perriman. The team lost receiver Steve Smith to retirement and tight end Dennis Pitta was released a few days ago after suffering another major hip injury.
Los Angeles Chargers news
The Los Angeles Chargers and edge-rushing linebacker Melvin Ingram have agreed to a four-year, $66 million contract extension. Ingram's deal also comes with $42 million in guaranteed money.
Locking up the 28 year-old, along with having Joey Bosa, gives the Chargers one of the best passing/rushing duos in the NFL. Ingram has had 18.5 sacks over the last two seasons after only having 6 in his first three.
Former Chargers left tackle King Dunlap has announced his retirement after nine seasons in the NFL. Dunlap spent his first five seasons with the Eagles, playing in 52 games and starting 19.
He then went to the Chargers and started all 27 games he played in his first two seasons with the team. Dunlap got a four-year, $28 million contract after 2014 but only played in 19 of a possible 32 games the last two seasons. He was released by the team on March 13th.
Marshawn's jersey sales
With running back Marshawn Lynch making a return to the NFL to play for his hometown team, the Oakland Raiders, it should come as no surprise that his jersey is popular.
However, his jersey was the best-selling jersey in the entire league for the month of May. It beat out the likes of Tom Brady, Dak Prescott, and Ezekiel Elliot. Deshaun Watson had the fifth best-selling jersey in the league for the month, the best among rookies.
