Cincinnati isn't looked too favorably this season, but they can get off to an impressive start by taking a series away from Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon at the Great American Ballpark. The Reds blanked their opponent 2-0 last time out. First baseman Joey Votto hit a solo home run, and shortstop Zack Cozart reeled in the other RBI. Starting pitcher Brandon Finnegan picked up the win after giving up just one hit in seven innings pitched. First pitch is slated for 12:35 PM Eastern time and the game can be seen on MLB.tv, CSN Philadelphia, and FSN Ohio.

Phillies (1-1, 4th NL East)

It was a tough outing for the batting order in the second game of the series. The unit recorded just four hits while striking out 13 times. Third baseman Maikel Franco suffered a thumb injury last time out, but he's expected to still play in the contest and is in the starting lineup. He's recorded two hits in his first eight at-bats in 2016.

Phillies right-hander Clay Buchholz looks for a fresh start in Philadelphia with his debut on the team. The veteran spent his first ten years with the Boston Red Sox. He struggled in recent years and is coming off of an 8-10 season with a 4.78 ERA. He did finish 2016 strong with three wins in his last six starts and giving up two runs or less in five of those.

Reds (1-1, 3rd NL Central)

The offensive unit was much more efficient than their opponent on Wednesday night, recording five hits compared to their eight strikeouts. Starting right-handed pitcher Anthony DeSclafani has been transferred to the 60-day disabled list. He's dealing with a sprained ligament in his right elbow, and there's no timetable for his return.

Reds starter Rookie Davis has the perfect first name this season as he begins his MLB career today. He's spent five years in the minors and most recently pitched for Louisville's AAA ball club. He had a rough stint with them, giving up a 7.50 ERA in just five games that he appeared in.

Both teams hold a moneyline of -110, and the run total is set at 9. Philadelphia is just 2-10 in their last 12 road games.
