One of the most successful stars from "Grey’s Anatomy," Eric Dane, has taken an indefinite hiatus from the upcoming show, “The Last Ship,” to fight against anxiety and depression.

A representative for the series claims that production halts on “The Last Ship,” allowing Eric Dane to recover. He is suffering from depression and has had been very open about his health problems. In 2011, Dane announced that he was going to rehab for an addiction to drugs and alcohol. Two years earlier, Eric and his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, were criticized for the nude video clip with former Miss Teen USA, Kari Ann Peniche.

This led Dane to suffer from anxiety and depression, and since then, he is under the supervision of a doctor.

According to Variety, the Michael Bay-produced series has gone on hiatus through the end of this month as Eric is unwell. Born in 1972, Dane is a popular Americana celebrity. His most notable works are “Charmed,” “Grey's Anatomy,” “Marley & Me,” “Valentine's Day”, “Burlesque,” and “The Last Ship.”

Dane tied the knot with Rebecca Gayheart in October 2004 after a relationship of two years. He has two daughters with her, Billie Beatrice Dane (born in 2010) and Georgia Geraldine Dane (born in 2011).

Eric and his wife remained in the headlines due to a nude video clip. The two were criticized on social media and threatened to be killed because of this tape. As a result, the actor developed an addiction to painkillers and suffered from severe sports injuries.

“The Last Ship” is an action drama, based on the 1989 novel of the same name by William Brinkley.

In 2013, the cable network TNT ordered ten episodes for the series, premiered in June 2014. In August 2014, “The Last Ship” was renewed for another season, consisting of thirteen episodes. The new season will premiere in June 2017.

In addition to Eric, the show features Rhona Mitra, Adam Baldwin, Charles Parnell, Sam Spruell, Travis Van Winkle, Marissa Neitling, Christina Elmore, Jocko Sims, and Kevin Michael Martin.

Principal photography began earlier this year, with most scenes being shot in San Pedro.

“The Last Ship” is a joint project of Platinum Dunes and Channel Road Productions, while Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are serving as showrunners. As of February 2017, the show has a score of 65 out of 100 on Metacritic, based on 23 reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has an approved rating of 67% based on 46 critics.
