It has already been confirmed that Capcom is currently working on the highly anticipated gaming title, the “Resident Evil 2” Remake. The game was officially announced two years ago in 2015 and since then there has been no update about the game’s development. Fans are very excited about the remake version as it was undoubtedly one of the best games offered in the Capcom survival horror franchise.
According to PlayStation Lifestyle, in a recent interview with Collider, Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi, said that “Resident Evil 2” remake will be out soon.
Unfortunately, no definite release date for the remade version was revealed. Kobayashi worked as a programmer on the original title that was released way back in 1998. He has also worked as a producer on the CG animated movie, “Resident Evil: Vendetta.”
Capcom first discussed the idea of developing the remake version in 2012. The video-game developer said that the company would consider making a remake version of the fan-favorite title if it finds that there is enough demand for the gaming title. The game was officially approved in 2015.
Release in January 2018 highly likely
It is expected that “Resident Evil 2” remake might get a January 2018 release date. The iconic survival horror title was first released on January 21, 1998.
Notably, the gaming title will be celebrating its 20th anniversary next year. There are high chances that Capcom might release the remake version of the highly popular game in the same month next year.
The Japanese game publisher has already released “Resident Evil 7” this year. So, releasing another game in the same year won’t make sense.
Fans can expect the developer to announce more details about the game at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show that is scheduled to take place in September.
Board game in progress
Steamforged Games, in collaboration with Capcom, has reportedly begun a Kickstarter for “Resident Evil 2” board game. The game, which will be set in the world of “Resident Evil 2,” is expected to come out later this year, most probably in late autumn.
Mat Hart, who is Steamforged Games’ co-founder and Creative Director, said that it’s a huge privilege for the company to present the popular video game as a board game. He said that they want to recreate the whole Resident Evil experience for gamers. The Kickstarter campaign will begin in Autumn. You can check out the teaser trailer for the board game below.
