A Polish plane transporting the Polish president himself, Lech Kaczynski, along with his wife and other political officials of a high rank and military men, crashed in Smolensk. A total of 96 people were inside the plane, and they were actually heading for the commemoration ceremonies marking the 70 years since the terrible Katyn massacre.

Nov. 17, 2013

A Boeing 737 aircraft of the Russian company Tatarstan, which had left Moscow crashed at the Kazan airport, a fact that resulted in the death of 50 passengers and crew members. The incident was caused by a deficiency in the airline’s safety management.

July 17, 2014

A Boeing 777 airplane of the Malaysia Airlines with 298 passengers on board, 193 of them Dutch, crashed in the vicinity of Donetsk in the east of Ukraine, a region rattled by an armed conflict. All the passengers and crew members lost their lives.

March 24, 2015

An Airbus A302 airplane of the Germanwings Company, which assured the link between Barcelona and Dusseldorf, crashed into the French Alps with 144 passengers and six crew members on board. The aircraft crashed near the Digne-les-Bains town.

Based on the passengers’ names, the authorities found out that 67 of them were German, of which 16 were high school students. The remaining 45 passengers were Spanish.

Oct. 2, 2015

A small plane carrying 10 persons crashed in the mountains during a flight over the Indonesian island Sulawesi. The aircraft, a DHC-6 Twin Otter model belonging to the Indonesian airline Aviastar had been set to arrive at Makassar, the capital of the South Sulawesi province. It took off from Masamba and was carrying three crew members and seven passengers, including two children.

Dec. 22, 2015

A Super King type of plane crashed shortly after it took off from the outskirts of the Indian capital New Delhi, and all 10 people on board lost their lives in the accident. The plane, chartered by border security forces, was to reach the city of Ranchi, located in the eastern part of the country.

Feb. 24, 2016

A small airliner crashed in a mountainous region in western Nepal with 23 persons on board. All the persons inside the aircraft died. Remnants of the plane and charred corpses were found in Mount Soli Ghoptebhir of the Myagdi district.
