With free-agent wide receiver Danny Amendola expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins, the New England Patriots need another reliable target for Tom Brady. While the Patriots are deep at wide receiver, they need a consistent and dependable target for Brady. One possibility, according to Chris Wesseling of NFL.com, could be Jordy Nelson, who was recently cut by the Green Bay Packers.

Nelson, who will turn 33 years old in May, played 10 years with the Packers, where he emerged as one of Aaron Rodgers’ primary targets. However, Nelson has had several devastating injuries throughout his stint in Green Bay. In 15 games last season, he caught 53 passes for 482 yards and six touchdowns. After missing the 2015 season due to an ACL injury, Nelson had a terrific comeback in 2016, recording 97 catches for 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns in 16 games.

Nelson a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers

Since 2014, Nelson has tallied 33 touchdowns, fourth-most in the NFL behind big-name receivers Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Odell Beckham of the New York Giants, DeAndre Hopkins of the Houston Texans, and Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots.

In his 10-year stay with the Packers, Nelson tallied 550 catches for 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns. Wesseling said the Patriots need another receiver, with Julian Edelman coming off an ACL surgery. “If Nelson wishes to follow the well-worn path of ring-chasers to Foxborough, perhaps there's mutual interest in a sure-handed wideout,” said Wesseling. Aside from the Patriots, the Oakland Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Baltimore Ravens are interested in Nelson. Nelson will leave the Packers as the second in franchise history in receiving touchdowns with 69, third in receptions with 550, and fifth in receiving yards with 7,848.

Packers sign Jimmy Graham

The Packers signed former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham, one of the best tight ends available in the market.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Graham will sign a three-year deal when the free-agent signing period begins on Wednesday (March 14). Before agreeing to a deal with the Packers, Graham also drew interest from the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears. Graham will fill the void left by Jared Cook, who left the Packers last offseason. The 31-year-old Graham is known as a reliable offensive player, missing just seven games in his eight-year stint with the Saints and the Seahawks. Last season, Graham played 16 games, recording 57 catches for 520 yards and 10 touchdowns. Overall, Graham has 69 touchdowns in eight seasons.
