Tennis great Serena Williams broke the News Thursday on Reddit via a poem that she has accepted the company's co-founder Alexis Ohanian’s wedding proposal. Although the newly engaged Williams did not reveal a wedding date, she did use the Reddit tag ‘isaidyes.’ Unlike many celebrity couples who use social media to advertise their every meal, pose, or thought, this pair kept a low-profile even though Ohanian is the co-founder of the very popular social news website Reddit. The 35-year-old tennis superstar decided to use it when it mattered – to announced her engagement.

Williams’ short poem sums up the romantic event as coming home to find her bags packed and ready to be whisked away to Rome where she met her now fiancé.

Apparently, the 33-year-old Ohanian got down on one knee and popped the question with those four magical words. In response to Serena Williams’ post on Reddit, Ohanian replied that she made him the happiest man on the planet. He later followed that up with: “she said yes.” In November 2015, Williams made headlines after chasing down a man who allegedly stole her phone while she was on a date with Ohanian at San Francisco’s Mission Chinese restaurant. The two have been in a relationship since then, following her relationship with Canadian songwriter and rapper, Drake.

The lady is a champ

Beloved by many, Serena Williams and her sister Venus have been household names for years. She has ranked number one by the Women’s Tennis Association on six different occasions and won this year’s Wimbledon crown.

Shortly after Williams’ engagement announcement, the Women’s Tennis Association tweeted out their congratulations along with a rare snapshot of the couple.

Who is the man who successfully courted the queen of the tennis court?

Born in Brooklyn, New York, but raised on the outskirts of Baltimore, Maryland, Alexis Ohanian and friend Steve Huffman founded the link-sharing site Reddit in 2005.

With over 35 million users, Forbes crowned Ohanian as the Mayor of the Internet. In 2011, he railed against Congress for its proposed Stop Online Piracy Act, stating that it would cripple the future of the internet and damage websites such as Reddit. He is also the doodler who created Reddit’s recognizable illustrations.
