NBA All-Star Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies is one of the most well-rounded centers in the league. His ability to pass, and shoot the three ball with consistency. along with his tenanious defense and rebounding makes him a nightmare for opposing coaches to prepare for. Every team in the NBA would love to have a player of his caliber to anchor their front line.

Is Marc Gasol leaving Memphis?

The Memphis Grizzlies have started the season with a record of 16-8 which is currently good for fifth place in the highly competitive Western Conference.

They have achieved this record despite the team not being at full strength, with multiple key players out with nagging injuries. Starting point guard Mike Conley and new off-season acquisition Chandler Parsons have been out for the past few weeks with different ailments. Despite not having these important pieces the Grizzlies have been able to stay afloat and keep up with top teams in the wild wild west.

Marc Gasol has been a major factor in Memphis maintaining a winning record by averaging career highs across the board in points, rebounds, and assists.

Even though he has been playing at the highest level to begin the season, the Grizzlies may be looking to shake some things up in order to make sure the team stays in the thick of the playoff race. Gasol would be a great trade piece to use in order to get quality assets to ensure the stability of the franchise.

Toronto Raptors in trade talks to obtain All-Star

One team that has been linked to a potential Marc Gasol trade is the Toronto Raptors.

The Raptors are currently sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference behind the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers. The team is playing up to expectations so far but it might not be enough if they want to get past the Cavs in a playoff series. If Toronto is able to get a player like Gasol, the team would instantly be upgraded and would immediately be able to contend for the Eastern Conference crown.

The proposed deal between the two teams would send Marc Gasol and well known NBA vet Vince Carter to the Raptors for Jonas Valanciunas and swingman Terrence Ross. This deal would allow the Raptors to upgrade their front court, as well as bring fan favorite Vince Carter back to the team where he started his illustrious career. The Grizzlies would basically get younger versions of Gasol and Carter to build their team around. If the potential deal goes through, it could be a win for both sides. The trade deadline is getting closer so we will see very soon if the two teams decide to make a move.
