The Sacramento Kings have started this NBA season with a below average 14-18 record in the Western Conference. Surprisingly that is good enough to make the post-season if the playoffs started today. With the Kings being in playoff contention they may try to make some changes to their roster to keep it that way.

Star center to be traded?

DeMarcus Cousins' name has been circulating in trade rumors for the past year, and with him becoming a free agent in the summer of 2018 Sacramento may try to get some valuable assets for him before he leaves and they get nothing in return. Cousins stated numerous times that he loves Sacramento and wants to stay but that just might not be in the cards for the All-Star Center.

Any team in the NBA would love to have a big man with the skill set that Cousins has. He can bring the ball up the floor, shoot from distance, rebound and defend. He is probably the best offensive center in the game as evidenced by his huge 55 point outing against the Portland Trailblazers recently. Some say he comes with some baggage because he is a very emotional player, and that sometimes gets him in trouble with the refs. Others would say he is a fiery competitor and just wants to be in a winning situation. Nevertheless, he will have no shortage of suitors because of his immense talent.

Orlando Magic want Cousins

The Orlando Magic are one of the teams that have come up recently when referring to a DeMarcus Cousins trade.

They have started the season with a 15-19 record in the NBA Eastern Conference and have not been playing up to the level of talent they have on the team. They acquired power forward Serge Ibaka and center Bismack Biyombo in the off-season to pair with young guards Elfrid Payton and Evan Fournier. So far the experiment has been a semi-disaster.

Serge Ibaka will be a free agent this summer and the team will have to pay top dollar in order to retain him. Some speculate this will cause the Magic to find a potential trade partner and the Kings seem like the most suitable choice.

The proposed deal between the two teams would send Mario Hezonja, Aaron Gordon, and Serge Ibaka to the Kings in exchange for Cousins.

This deal would allow Sacramento to build a good young foundation, as well as possibly keeping them in the playoff hunt. The Magic would get their franchise player with Cousins and could build a solid core around him. With the trade deadline looming, expect talks between the two teams to heat up.
