The Curse of the Billy Goat is no more

The Chicago Cubs ended their 108-year championship drought on November 2nd when they beat the Cleveland Indians 8-7 in Game 7 of the World Series. It was the joy of every Cubs fan when Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs caught the last ball that caused Cleveland Indians batter Miguel Montero to be out and ended the game. Cubs fans had been waiting for over a century for their team to win the World Series and this became known as The Curse of the Billy Goat.

The origin of this traces back to the World Series in 1945 when a bar owner named Bill Sianis was kicked out of the World Series because he and his pet goat smelled bad, which prompted Bill Sianis to curse the team for kicking them out.Interestingly enough, Bill Sianis owned a bar that was called Billy Goat's Tavern and was located near Wrigley Field. Now the series went to 7 games but early on it was looking as if Chicago would not win it as Cleveland gained a 3-1 series lead in the first 4 games of the series.

Delays didn't stop this team, though

The game was delayed a little. They had to stop the game for a little bit, which didn't really help the fact that it was a tied game. After the rain stopped, they went into extra innings for both sides since they were both tied at 6.

There were some errors on the Cubs' side as they didn't look as strong defensively as they usually do, but at the end of the game, it didn't really matter that much as they ended up winning the trophy and cementing themselves as the best MLB team for the 2016 season.

The parade took place in Chicago on November 4th and there were reports of nearly 5 million fans that showed up to celebrate the championship for the team.

The parade went all around Chicago and members of the team held the World Series trophy with great excitement. Congratulations to the city of Chicago and the members of the Cubs organization, you all deserve this win.
