The Nebraska football team knows it has to win the rest of its games this season in order to have a shot at the Big Ten title game. What the rest of the college football world might not have realized is that despite a demoralizing 62-3 loss to Ohio State, this team could be looking to be conference champs at the end of the year.

On Saturday night, against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Nebraska football team did what it does best. It battled through numerous injuries in order to gut out a win and put the clamps on its opponent in the second half.

Battered But Battling

When Tommy Armstrong's Nebraska football career comes to an end there are a few things fans will be able to say about the quarterback.

At the top of the list, is that Tommy is and was always a warrior. One week removed from a concussion that ended his night early against the Buckeyes, Tommy was back against mounting odds.

While he didn't play a perfect game, he did what he could to life the Nebraska football team to victory, throwing a perfect, 31 yard screen pass to Terrell Newby in the third quarter to tie the game at 17 and then running in a 13 yard touchdown to take the lead at 24-17. His run came after he had to briefly leave the game with an ankle injury. On that run, he seemed to tweak his hamstring and had to leave yet again.

The Outside Shot

The win against Minnesota means the Huskers are 8-2 on the season and 5-2 in the Big Ten.

That's the exact same record Wisconsin has. Unfortunately, the Badgers hold the tiebreaker over the Cornhuskers thanks to their overtime win. At the moment, the road to the Big Ten title game certainly seems easier for Wisconsin than Mike Riley and company. The Badgers' next game is against division cellar dweller Purdue and the 7th ranked team just dispatched Illinois in dominating fashion.

If there is a chance for Wisconsin to lose one more game this year, it will ironically be against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Badgers will be taking on Minny on the same weekend the Nebraska football team will be attempting to finish the season 10-2 against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
