The Buffalo Bills defeated the Bengals 16-12 in week 11 of the NFL season. The Bills won as underdogs on the road in what was a hard fought defensive game. Their win was aided by two missed extra points from Bengals kicker Mike Nugent. Dan Carpenter, in contrast, made every field goal and extra point to help the Bills get the victory and stay in the playoff mix. But there's one personality who already thinks the team is out of the playoff race.

Mike Rodak's Prediction.

Mike Rodak is known for being notoriously negative about the Bills. He used to cover the Patriots, a team that has been far more successful than the Patriots this season, so it's hard to blame him.

But suggesting that the Bills playoff hopes are over after a win? That's going a bit too far!

In their bye week, the Bills got exactly no help for a playoff push. But a win against the Bengals in week 11 has the team standing in much better playoff position at 5-5. If the team can beat the Jaguars next week, then they will be right back in the thick of things by week 13.

Playoff Competitors.

The main competitors in the AFC are all from one division. The Chiefs, Broncos, and Raiders have all had great seasons and none of them has more than three losses.

Thankfully these AFC West teams do play each other a few times before the end of the season. The Bills would need one of them to have at least a semi-collapse to have a chance at the playoffs. But let's take a look at the Bills remaining schedule and see what a reasonable projected record would be.

Future Opponents.

The Bills will play the Jaguars at home in their next game in what should be a win. They then have two games against playoff contenders in the Raiders and the Steelers, away and home respectively. The Bills would need to win at least one of those games to truly have a shot of making the playoffs.

In their last three games, the team will play the Browns, Dolphins, and Jets. Wins against all three of those teams are projected. Mike Rodak might not believe it, but a Bills playoff appearance is more realistic than most believe.
