Hot start for Los Angeles Clippers

For the Los Angeles Clippers, the start of the 2016/2017 has gone about as well as anyone could have hoped. With 13 wins and 2 losses in their first 15 games (and 9 wins out of their last 10 contests), the Los Angeles Clippers have come out of the gate with guns blazing -- with no signs of slowing down.

While the Clippers have had a talented roster over the course of the last few years, they have not been able to get over the hump when everything was on the line and make it count. Occupying the top seed in the Western Conference (as well as the best record in the league overall), this hot start has many wondering if this may just be the year that the Clippers can make noise, and potentially compete to win it all come playoff time.

While that notion may seem far off with only 15 games into the current season, the Clippers are certainly showing that they have what it takes to win, and people are taking note this season.

Clippers and Raptors in high scoring shootout

Led by DeMar DeRozan so far this season, the Toronto Raptors have gotten off to a good start themselves this year, and are favorites to contend in the East behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. DeRozan continued that trend tonight, as he dropped 25 points on the Clippers in front of their home crowd. Ultimately, though, even DeRozan's heroics, coupled with the team high 27 points from his partner in crime (Kyle Lowry) wasn't enough to push past the Clippers.

For the Clippers, Point Guard Chris Paul put in a double-double in this home victory against the Toronto Raptors with 26 points and 12 assists.

Blake Griffin also put in 26 points of his own, while big man DeAndre Jordan rounded out the L.A. attack with a double-double (17 points, 15 rebounds). Ultimately, the final box score was 123-115 in favor of the Clippers.

All in all, the Clippers are in the midst of their hottest start in recent memory, and, much like the Golden State Warriors managed to do when they captivated everyone with "the streak" last season, the Clippers have their own bragging rights, as they hold the best record in the league through the first 15 games.

Whether they are able to maintain this pace as the season progresses remains to be seen, however, it certainly is a fun brand of basketball to watch.
