A picture is worth a thousand words. The photo with Charles Barkley side-hugging Michael Jordan would say they are back to being buds, but Barkley says not so fast. A recent photo of Barkley, Jordan and Kenny Smith surfaced, showing the former NBA players linked up and smiling. Barkley came clean about the photo on "The Dan Le Batard Show with Stu Gotz" on ESPN radio. The former Phoenix Suns Power Forward said the snap was nothing more than a photo opp.

"We just happened to be at the same place at the same time. I love him like a brother but we are not back to where we used to be," Barkley explained on the radio show.

The origin of Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan's beef

Charles Barkley went on "The Seth Davis Show" in 2015 and explained why his longtime friendship with the NBA legend was severed. The former NBA MVP said Jordan was upset after Barkley criticized Jordan's performance as the chairman of the then Charlotte Bobcats. Barkley says he misses his friend but won't apologize for doing his job as a TNT NBA analyst.

"I love Michael, but he just has not done a good job," Barkley said. "Even though he is one of my great friends, I can't get on here and tell you he's done a great job. He has not done a great job, plain and simple," Barkley said during an interview in 2012 on "The Waddle & Silvy Show."

Jordan's 2011-2012 Bobcats season

Barkley's comments didn't come out of thin air.

During the 2011-2012 NBA season, the Charlotte Bobcats had the worst NBA record (7-59). Needless to say, the team didn't make it to the playoffs.

Kenny "The Jet" Smith says Barkley and MJ beef is water under the bridge

TMZ caught up with Kenny Smith, the third former NBA player pictured with Barkley and Jordan.

Smith says the Beef wasn't as intense as it's made out to be. He says when all three came together for the photo it was all love and no tension. A TMZ photographer pressed Smith and asked if they will be hanging out anytime soon. Smith says if he's included in the plans he can get them to have a beer.
