The Vancouver Canucks were a busy team this week and they have some results to show for their efforts. First, the Canucks defeated the Calgary Flames last night in a shootout 2-1. Vancouver needed extra time again on Sunday evening, however the Canucks have their second straight win as they defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 in overtime.

Vancouver staged a come-from-behind win

The Hurricanes jumped out to a 3-0 lead before six minutes were played in the second period. From that point on it was only Vancouver that did any scoring.Bo Horvat broke the ice for the Canucks at the 12:03 mark of the second period, a goal that gave the Vancouver contingent something to cheer about.

Then in the third period Vancouver's Markus Granlund and Ben Hutton both scored, the latter with 5:50 remaining in regulation. In overtime Brandon Sutter scored the winner just 32 seconds into the frame to give Vancouver two more points in the standings.

Vancouver 2-0 despite poor projections

Vancouver had to wait longer than most to start their season, however they are now two games in and their fans don't have a thing to complain about. The Canucks are 2-0 despite the poor projections from pundits and oddsmakers alike. In regard to the latter, Vancouver are way out as the very-last favorites in terms of regular season and playoff expectations.

  • Vancouver are last favorites and 25/1 to win the Pacific Division with BetVictor
  • Vancouver are last favorites and 40/1 to win the western conference playoffs with the same firm
  • Lastly, Vancouver are 100/1 to win the Cup with William Hill, again the last favorites

In beating both Carolina and Calgary at home, Vancouver probably have not proven a lot.

Vancouver will continue their homestand later this week with two games that look much tougher. The St. Louis Blues will be in town to play on Tuesday at 7pm PT. Then on Thursday the Buffalo Sabres will be in Vancouver for another game that starts at 7pm PT.

Other results on Sundayday saw Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers lose in a very big way.

The only other game that was played took place in New York where the Islanders beat the AnaheimDucks 3-2.
