A day after Ashley Wagner and the rest of the ladies opened Skate America 2016 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, the men took their first turn around the rink on Oct. 22 with their own round of short programs. With all 10 routines in the books, Japan's Shoma Uno rested atop the pack, with a pair of Americans trailing just a few points behind in silver and bronze medal position.

As the first event of the six-part 2016-17 Grand Prix of Figure Skating series, the Skate America 2016 results will either make or break some skaters' hopes of earning berths in the Grand Prix Final, which will take place in Marseille, France in December. The six skaters in men's, women's, ice dance, and pairs who earn the most points across the Grand Prix series will earn invitations to compete at the Final, with the highest point totals awarded to medal recipients.

The next series event, Skate Canada 2016, is set to take place in Mississauga, Canada next weekend.
