The Pittsburgh Penguins suffered their first lossof the season on Monday night as they fell to the Colorado Avalanche in a result from Pittsburgh. Sidney Crosby remained absent from his team'slineup as he continues to sit on the sidelines following a recent concussion. Fans wondering if he will make his season debut on Tuesday will be disappointed with a morning tweet from Eric Engels, a reporter for Rogers Sportsnet.

According to Engels "Sidney Crosby did not travel to Montreal" as of Tuesday morning.I guess there could be a scenario where Crosby travels later today, as the game doesn't start until 7:30pm ET.

However, with the information about him not travelling with the team it looks like Crosby will be a scratch tonight, meaning that his missed-game count on the season will run up to four games.

Pittsburgh have done well without Crosby

So far in their first trio of games, the Penguins have not really missed their captain. They have five points in the standings out of a possible six, with just the one point missed out on last night in the overtime loss to Colorado.

Although Pittsburgh appear as though they will be missing their best player once again, perhaps there is some balance to the luck as Carey Price won't be playing. Price, the best player on the Montreal Canadiens, has had the flu over the last several days, an illness that has kept him out of any action so far.

Al Montoya, the back-up goalie for the Canadiens, has played well in Price's absence. However, anyone that bought tickets for this game in advance thinking they would see a Price/Crosby showdown doesn't look as though he/she will get even half that on Tuesday.

Tonight's Montreal/Pittsburgh game is a part of a large schedule in the NHL.

Colorado will be in Washington trying to follow up last night's victory with another away-game win (7pm ET). Florida and Tampa Bay will battle it out in Florida in a 7:30pm ET start. The Chicago Blackhawks will look for their first win of the season as they host the Philadelphia Flyers at 8:30pm ET.

Among several other games, Edmonton host Carolina (9pm ET), Calgary host Buffalo (9pm ET), and Vancouver host St. Louis (10pm ET).
