When it comes to Spanish La Liga Primera Football this season, no one is really looked passed Barcelona, Real Madrid, or Atletico Madrid when it comes to speculation on the eventual champion. Those teams are 1/1, 2/1, and 3/1 with BetVictor sportsbook on outrights.

The fourth favorite in the league is Sevilla, a team that is 200/1 with bet365 to win the league championship. That's a huge dropoff in betting odds, especially since Sevilla are only one point back of first place through seven matches.

Top-four teams close in points

The current standings for the top-four teams are as follows:

  • Atletico Madrid in first place with 4 wins and 3 draws for 15 points
  • Real Madrid in second place with 4 wins and 3 draws for 15 points
  • Sevilla in third place with 4 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss for 14 points
  • Barca in fourth place with 4 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses for 13 points

Sevilla, who also owns a win in Champions League over Lyon, doesn't look like a 200 to 1 team to me.

However it seems that a lot of people need some more convincing with this club.

Sevilla can beat Leganes

Their next game is on Saturday, an away game against Leganes. That's a team that's in poor form at the moment and Sevilla will need to pounce on what should be three points for them.

Leganes currently sit 11th in the La Liga Primera. They have two wins in their last five games with losses to Valencia, Barcelona, and Sporting Gijon. With Sevilla in decent form and Leganes struggling, longer-than-even odds on Sevilla to win straight up are looking pretty good. They are priced at 5/4 with Stan James in the winner's market for Saturday's game.

Should Sevilla defeat Leganes for a full three points in the standings, it's still not likely to turn many heads.

However if they lose then certainly it would take some wind out of their sails, even this early in the season. The league is too competitive to let three points go when facing a struggling team.

Barca, Atleti, and Real are all pretty heavy favorite to win their games this week, even with the latter football club playing on the road.

However, a tie from Real and/or Atleti and Sevilla can move up. Any kind of confidence that can help them find their footing will certainly be a good thing.

If you are taking Sevilla at 200s, then at least there's no serious risk with the odds. It doesn't much of anything to make 200 to 1 interesting.

However, the sportsbooks aren't stupid and each-way terms on Sevilla aren't available with the numerous sportsbooks I look at.

That means that you would need them to win outright without any kind of consolation for a high finish. In other markets, a top-four finish is only coming in at 9/4 (Coral). Given how long it will take for this market to settle, that's a long time to wait for a small return.Sevilla fans and value punters would probably be smart to focus on individual games as opposed to futures, except for a puny throw-away-but-maybe-not bet at 200s.
