It was a night of position battles and proving points for players looking to make final roster cuts. With the regular season beginning on Wednesday, this was the final chance to make an impression and dust off the cobwebs. Here's a look at how your team did on Saturday.

Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

The Blue Jackets held off the Penguins in a high scoring game, the away side took an early lead in the first period and never trailed. Two goals in the second period from the Penguins brought both sides back on level terms, but the last few minutes of the period saw the Blue Jackets regain their two goal advantage.

Oliver Bjorkstrand led the way with two goals.

Boston Bruins vs. Philadelphia Flyers

This Eastern Conference defensive battle ended up going to overtime. Ryan Spooner scored the game winner less than two minutes into overtime and the Bruins ended their preseason schedule on a high note. Tuuka Rask stopped 27 shots in his shutout performance.

Detroit Red Wings vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

A third period goal from Anthony Mantha gave the Red Wings a 4-3 win at Joe Louis Arena. The Maple Leafs had stormed back to tie the game in a 12 second span at the start of the third period, after trailing for most of the game.

The home side had maintained a two goal advantage after the first and second intermissions, with goals from Gustav Nyquist, Dylan Larkin and Brendan Smith.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Nashville Predators

The Lightning edged the Predators by a final score of 5-3.

They scored three goals in the final period to grab their third win of the preseason. Steven Stamkos contributed three assists in his teams winning effort. Five different players scored for the Lightning.

Florida Panthers vs. New Jersey Devils

Four answered goals led the Panthers to a 4-2 win over the Devils.

The away side got goals from Jaromir Jagr, Colton Sceviour, Aaron Ekblad and Vincent Trocheck. On the negative side, Jonathan Huberdeau left the game with what seemed to be a left leg injury.

Minnesota Wild vs. Winnipeg Jets

A four goal third period allowed the Wild to run away with this one. The game was tied after the first two intermissions, with the onslaught beginning when Mike Reilly found the back of the net in the opening two minutes of the third period. The three remaining players that would score would be Christoph Bertschy, Marco Scandella and Charlie Coyle.

St. Louis Blues vs. Chicago Blackhawks

An Alex Pietrangelo third period goal led the Blues to a 2-1 victory over their Central Division rivals.Vladimir Tarasenko was an instrumental part in his teams win, as he recorded a goal and an assist.

Dennis Rasmussen scored the lone goal for the Blackhawks.

Vancouver Canucks vs. Edmonton Oilers

A third period comeback lifted the Canucks to a 3-2 win over the Oilers. Markus Granlund scored the game winner with two minutes left in the game. Sven Baertschi had tied it up earlier in the period. Connor McDavid had a two point night for the Oilers.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Los Angeles Kings

Gabriel Landeskog scored 37 seconds into overtime to lift the Avalanche to a 2-1 win. The Avalanche forced overtime with less than three minutes remaining, as Mikhail Grigorenko found the back of the net. Jeff Carter scored for the Kings in the second period.
