Manchester City are considered shorter-than-even favorites to win the Premier League this season despite just a slim lead in the standings. Man City lost their most recent match 2-0 to Tottenham Hotspur. That team sits in second place now, just one point behind Man City in the standings.

Premier League outrightodds

After Man City and Tottenham, the top teams in the league thus far are Arsenal and Liverpool. Each of these teams has 16 points in the standings so there really isn't any separation with the top teams yet. However, as is often the case, the betting odds don't really reflect the standings or at least the closeness of them.

Man City are priced at 20/21 (SportingBet) on outrights despite the recent loss. That's a tough line to sell after seven games with just a one-point edge and two other teams within striking range.

Tottenham, the team in second place, are considered fourth favorites with numerous firms. For example 888Sport have them at 17/2, odds that may have been left too long following the win over the top-rated team.Arsenal and Liverpool are priced at 7/1 and 9/2 respectively with bwin, odds that look about right in my view.

Betting odds for a top-6 finish

Rounding out the top six in the Premier League are both Everton and Manchester United. They have 14 points and 13 points respectively. While both teams sit in winning position when it comes to top-six markets, Everton are the team with the longer odds.

Manchester United, for instance, are a short 1/7 (Coral) to finish in the top six despite currently sitting on the bubble. Everton, on the other hand, can be taken at a much safer 13/5 with Ladbrokes for those that think that they will keep playing at a high enough level.

Bettings odds for the a top-10 finish

The teams placed 7th to 10th in order are Chelsea, Crystal Palace, West Bromwich, and Southampton. Among these teams it is Crystal Palace that have the best recent in-league form. In their last five they have three wins and two draws, including a tie against higher-ranked Everton.

Despite a strong start and currently sitting safely in winning position for this market, CP have longer-than-even odds. Coral have Crystal Palace at 7/5 for a top-10 finish with other sportsbooks offering shorter lines.

Betting odds for relegation

West Ham United, Stoke City, and Sunderland currently hold the bottom-three positions. However, the 'favorites' to be relegated include two teams currently sitting in the top 17.

Hull City remain in 15th spot despite a good start to the season that saw them nab the maximum six points in the franchise's first two games. Since then Hull have managed just a draw and they remain favored for relegation at 20/21 with Paddy Power.

Burnley also have seven points in the standings and they sit in 14th position.

Their form of late is nothing egregious as they've managed four points in their last five games. If they can keep that up it willkeep them safely out of relegatedpositions. Nonetheless, they remain favored to finish bottom three at 4/6 with Stan James.

West Ham, Stoke, and Sunderland have the following respective odds for relegation: 9/2 with bet365, 4/1 with bet365, and 4/5 with Paddy Power. The line on Stoke looks particularly attractive as this is a team with no wins through seven matches. Currently last placed save one, Stoke have just three draws on the season when it comes to team highlights.

Games start again on Saturday

The betting odds promise to start shaking up again on Saturday when Premier League action starts up again.

In one game that might feature an over-rated team against an under-rated team Everton faces Man City in a matchthat will come from Manchester. I think the valuebet in this contestis for a double chance on Everton at 9/5 for a draw or win with bet365.
