India beat Thailand73-20 in the semi-finals while Iran edged out South Korea in a hard-hitting game to reach the finals. India had a initial shock after losing to Korea in the initial league gamebut bounced back to win the last five games in a rowincluding the semis. These two teams clashed in the finals of the 2004 and 2007 World Cups too.

Indian skipper Anup Kumar is confident of bringing the trophy to India again as his team got the confidence after winning the semis with a big margin.

Iran coach KC Suthar said his players played in the Kabaddi League in India and knew the Indian players and their strategies well. He expects his team will lift the cup this time around.

The groupings

12 countries have participated in the tournament that started on October 7. The games were divided into two groups. Group A had India, Bangladesh, Australia, England, South Korea and Argentina.

The teams in Group B were Iran, Japan, Thailand, Kenya, Thailand and Japan.

The surprise package of this event was team USA who were overwhelmed newcomers.The US players had just around two weeks to prepare for the big event and clash with the biggest players in the big format in front of an audience of millions.

They landed in Ahmedabad just a day before the world cup started and put up the best show with the Kabaddi giants.
