The Carolina Panthers cut starting cornerback Benwikere shortly after star Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones recorded more than 300 receiving yards in one game. That weak performance was enough for the Panthers to decide to cut ties with Benwikere, who will now be looking for a job somewhere else in the NFL. Here are a few teams that could use the services of the former Panther.

1. Indianapolis Colts.

This defense is awful. The Colts have allowed the third most points per game and have proven that they can stop neither the pass or the run. The Colts recently cut cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who had been a stopgap at a position that was plagued by injuries early on.

Now the Colts have a starting caliber cornerback in Benwikere who could immediately contribute to a defense that is in desperate need of help.

2. New Orleans Saints.

The Saints are the worst defense in the NFL and have allowed the more points to opposing offenses than any other defense in the league. The entire defense is bad enough for Benwikere to be an upgrade over almost any player the Saints are currently starting on defense every week. The Saints have allowed the thirdmost passing yards in the NFL, something that will need to change if New Orleans has any hope of making the playoffs.

3. Oakland Raiders.

What team has allowed the most passing yards in the NFL? The answer would be the Oakland Raiders, who have allowed more than 1300 passing yards in the first four weeks of the season, more than 300 yards per week.

The reason? Poor cornerbacks who have struggled to contain players like Steve Smith, Julio Jones, Willie Snead, and Brandin Cooks. Benwikere could help give the Raiders additional depth at a position where they clearly need it right now.

4. Washington Redskins.

Have the Redskins really fixed their secondary issues?

Bashaud Breeland is a star and Josh Norman was signed in the offseason, but it doesn't look like that has translated into an elite defense yet. Some of the blame can be placed on the rest of the defense, which is nowhere near as talented as the aforementioned cornerbacks. Benwikere would give the Redskins a third solid cornerback at a low cost who could help reduce all those passing yards the Redskins have allowed in the first four weeks.
