Fantasy owners should always be looking to continually improve their team in each and every week. Part of that improvement comes in the form of the waiver wire, where fantasy owners can add players who will help improve the team's future prospects. So which players should fantasy owners be looking to target in week 9.

1. Rob Kelley (22.9% Ownership, ESPN)

If he's available in your league, go get him. The Redskins running back had 87 rushing yards and a touchdown in week 9 and was clearly more prominent in the offense than fellow back Chris Thompson. Matt Jones missed week 9 with an injury and could continue to miss more time.

Even if he does come back, Kelley may have carved out a role for himself in the offense.

2. Tim Hightower (1.9% Ownership, ESPN)

Mark Ingram was benched for fumbling issues and Hightower immediately picked up the slack. He ran for more than 100 yards on 26 carries and played a prominent fantasy role in the Saints victory over the Seahawks. Hightower earned at least an increased role in the future and could carve out the starting role if he continues his impressive production.

3. Chargers D/ST (15.4% Ownership, ESPN)

San Diego's defense is much better than people are giving them credit for. The team scored 13 fantasy points against the Broncos and now gets a favorable matchup against the Titans at home.

If you're looking to stream a defense from the waiver wire, look no further than this unit.

4. Kendall Wright (3.7% Ownership, ESPN)

The Titans wide receiver had 84 receiving yards and caught a touchdown pass last week. He unfortunately scored just one point in the week prior, even though he had scored 19 fantasy points in the week before.

That inconsistency makes Wright a risky start, but he should definitely be off most fantasy waiver wires after this week.

5. Charcandrick West (7.3% Ownership, ESPN)

The Chiefs backfield owns some of the most valuable roles in fantasy Football. Because of that, the starter at any given point occupies a hugely valuable role.

Spencer Ware left the game against the Colts in week 8 and West came in as the starter. If Ware misses any more time, West will immediately become an every week fantasy starter.
