Arsenalmay be a second-placed team in the Premier League standings as of Sunday, however that's only on tiebreakers. At this point in the season who wins on tiebreakers isn'timportant at all. With what matters, Arsenal are tied for first at 19 points with Manchester City. Both teams may be end up tied with Liverpool if that club picks up a full three points on Monday against Manchester United.

However of the trio of teams it's Arsenal that have the longest odds. They come in at 11/2 on outrights with BetVictor while Liverpool (4/1 with betway) and Man City (5/4 with Paddy Power) come in shorter.

In regard to the latter, those odds have drifted in recent weeks as Man City used to be a shorter-than-even favorite to win the Premier League.

Arsenal winning a lot lately

Arsenal have been productive week-in and week-out since losing to Liverpool back in mid-August. They probably should have turned some heads on September 13th when they tied French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 in Champions League group-stage play.

PSG, though perhaps a tad over-rated themselves, are crushing 1/4 favorites to win France's Ligue 1. Arsenal battling to a draw against them, in a matchthat was played in Paris, was a major sign that the Gunners were made of a bit more than generally given credit for.

Mainly clean sheets lately

In the four matches that Arsenal played between September 20th and October 2nd it was nothing but wins to nilfor them. In a soft patch in terms of scheduling, Arsenal outscored their opponents 10-0. The streak of clean sheets came to an end on Saturday when they yielded two goals to Swansea City, however Arsenal did not yield when it came to winning.

They defeated Swansea 3-2 for what was the Gunners' sixth straight victory, Premier League and Champions League combined.

Looking ahead, the soft stretch of games remains for the Gunners. On Wednesday, it's a Champions League match-up again as Arsenal play Bulgaria's Ludogorets Razgrad. After that there will only be Middlesbrough (October 22nd), Reading (October 25th), and Sunderland (October 29th) for the balance of October.

In early November Arsenal play the Bulgarian squad again before playing a team of substance in Tottenham Hotspur on November 6th.

For recommendations on Arsenal, I think they should be taken in Premier League outrights and backed to win to nil against Ludogorets on Wednesday with Ladbrokesat 4/5. I'm looking for nothing but victories in the weeks ahead and an interesting match against Tottenham in November.
