Coming off of a couple of weeks of dismal Raw ratings, the WWE is hoping to rebound with their first Raw exclusive brand pay-per-view event Clash of Champions since the WWE draft that happened in the month of July of this year. The ratings for Raw has dipped below the 2's, and is going to be up against some stiff competition for the next few weeks.

This will be the last night before the highly anticipated presidential debates that take place this coming Monday, as Raw is alsotelevised. A lot is also at stake, as the NFL is starting to heat up going into its third week. The Clash of Champions event that happens this Sunday could be the shot in the arm that WWE needs to stay competitive to what is on television next week.

Match-ups

The event does seem to promise a lot out of the current Raw roster, even with the help of the re-emergence of the Cruiserweight Division, as the Cruiserweight Championship will be contested on Sunday at Clash of Champions against T.J. Perkins, and the returning Brain Kendrick. What's also on the card includes Kevin Owens versus Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship, and Rusev defending his United States Championship against Roman Reigns. The Women's Championship is also going to be on the line with the match being between the current Women's Champion Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and newly acquired Bayley in a fierce triple threat match. Other matches include Sami Zayn versus Chris Jericho, Alicia Fox versus Nia Jax, and The New Day versus Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson for the Tag Team Championship.

With Raw doing its worst ratings in twenty years, the WWE wants to put its best foot forward this coming Sunday at Clash of Champions. The NBA is returning next month, and with all the other great programming that is happening throughout the end of the year, and heading into 2017, this could very well be the final chance the company has to make a strong impact, and stay in the Nielsen rating's top spots at the end of the day.

This will all come down to, however, the execution of the matches at the Clash of Champions pay-per-view.
