MMA fighter Marcus Kowal is mourning the tragic loss of his 15-month-old son Liam who was tragically killed on Sunday after being hit by a car that was allegedly driven by an elderly, 72-year-old woman driving under the influence.

Kowal family suffers major loss

Liam Kowal was sadly killed while out on a Sunday afternoon walk with his aunt when he was killed by a hit and run driver. Marcus took to Facebook Sunday alerting fans of the family's heartbreaking tragedy revealing that his son had been declared brain dead after being hit by the car.

The sad post revealed that Liam had been a fighter throughout the ordeal, but sadly his brain had stopped functioning. Enduring every parent's nightmare, the loss of a child, it was also stated that Kowal's sister-in-law (15) who had been out on a walk with Liam had also been seriously injured by the car.

Details surrounding the fatal accident reveal that both Liam and his aunt were struck by the vehicle and that Liam was found not breathing several feet away from the scene still strapped into his stroller. Emergency responders did everything within their power as the toddler was rushed to Harbor-UCLA Medical Centerwhere he was pronounced brain dead.

Marcus Kowal reveals family will be donating son's organs

Witnesses on the scene of the horrific accident took the law into their own hands following the hit-and-run driver and obtaining her by blocking her in with their cars so she could not leave until Hawthorne police officers arrived to arrest her. The woman, whose name has been released as Donna Marie Higgins was given a field sobriety test on the scene and arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run, and drunk driving.

The MMA fighter Marcus Kowal (on behalf of his family) stated that the family fully plans on pressing further charges against the driver seeking justice for Liam's death.

He also announced that the family will be donating Liam's organs to help other children in need so that Liam can make a difference in another child's life.

It was also posted that the family was told that they may donate the organs to someone they know, and asked for information from Facebook users on children in need. A GoFundMe page has been started for the family of Liam Kowal. Such a sad and heartbreaking tragedy that could have been prevented.
