A steady start spoiled by irresponsible middle order

India began their proceedings in a very confident manner, as Lokesh Rahul and Murali Vijay combated the bowling attack of Kiwis with ease.

Rahul played the game just like a one day International and scored a quick 32 before getting out in a Santner delivery.

Then came, Chetheswar Pujara who scored a convincing half-century and 112 runs partnership with Murali. Santner dismissed Pujara when the Indian score was 154, and it was the beginning of a fatal fall.

Skipper Virat Kohli came to the crease, and went to the pavilion in no time, and soon Murali Vijay too joined him.

Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma too failed to make big contributions.

It was Ravichandran Ashwin who helped India to reach a score which is close to 300. The spinner batted in a very responsible manner, and he scored 40 runs before getting dismissed by Trent Boult.
