The #Great Golf Tournament of Cuba at #Varadero Golf Club has put some extra bite into this year’s event by inviting a very special golfing guest to next month’s event.

Tournament organizer Palmares, S.A. and the course, which is the only 18-hole layout on the Caribbean island, recently co-announced that PGA golf legend #Greg “The Great White Shark” Norman of Australia agreed to be the guest of honor for the tournament. Norman will appear at the opening ceremony for the Great Golf Tournament of Cuba on Oct. 4 to officially begin the eighth edition of the competition. The event’s dates are Oct.

4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. His stellar career included more than 90 victories across the globe that featured a pair of #British Open wins and the blond Australian also owned the top spot on the world golf rankings for an astounding 331 consecutive weeks.

Once his competitive World Golf Hall of Fame career came to a close, Norman started out on a business journey that has seen him become Chairman and CEO of Great White Shark Enterprises. The global business includes the implementation of 100 golf course designs across six continents, a real estate division, award-winning vineyards, golf-inspired lifestyle apparel and a diverse investment division. He recently visited #Cuba several times and has become involved in investment opportunities on the island.

The first 160 male and femalegolfers wishing to play in the Great Golf Tournament of Cuba have until Sept. 29 to enter. The entry fee is $150 convertible Cuban pesos which is about the equivalent of the American dollar. The fee gives each player a practice round, two competitive rounds of 18 holes, a shared golf cart, club storage, welcome cocktail, beverages and snack service during the two competition rounds and access to several social activities.

The Great Golf Tournament of Cuba has been a high profile event in the past and has hadguests of honor including supestars likeErnie Els of South Africa, big hitting Alvaro Quiros of Spain and Tony Jacklin of England.
