It was 2010, five years ago. That's the last time the Crimson Tide lost three games in a college Football regular season. An excellent accomplishment but not unheard of. Other teams have done this. Urban Meyer is in the midst of a similar streak at Ohio State since 2012.

What makes the Alabama streak amazing is they play in the SEC west, the most difficult division in college football.A couple of the matrix used to determine the SEC west as best in the nation:

  • All seven SEC west teams teams finished with winning records
  • All seven received bowl bids
  • six of the seven teams won their bowl game, including national champ, Alabama

Alabama is winning regularly.

Ok, so what's the big deal? The deal is this may be the year Alabama slips back to a great team that can be beaten, instead of a great team that's practically unbeatable. The following is Alabama's upcoming record:

Sept. 3 - vs. Southern Cal(at Arlington) -As usual, the Trojans have a very talented team that can play with anybody. The question is what have the new staff been able to do with it so far?

Alabama wins here, we just don't know by how many.Prediction - Alabama 34 - USC 21

Sept. 10 - vs Western Ky. - Prediction - Alabama 35 - WKU 10

Sept. 17 - at Mississippi -This game is a tough call. Alabama was definitely the more talented team last year but lost -- partially on a fluke TD play -- the game. Still, no matter how talented the team, a five turnover differential will equal a loss versus most SEC foes.

NFL

Prediction - Ole Miss 23 - Bama - 21

Sept. 24 - Kent State -Prediction - Alabama 42 - Kent State 7

Oct. 1 - Kentucky -Expect the Wildcats to be an improved team this year. After back-to-back 5-7 seasons, Kentucky returns 14 starters. They should make a push for a post-season bowl game this year. While improved, I wouldn't bet the farm on a trip to Tuscaloosa. Prediction - Alabama 38 - Kentucky 21

Oct. 8 - at Arkansas -Bret Bielema's Razorbacks were 8-5 last year.

Three of those losses were within one score so they were plenty capable. This season, they return 14 starters and the record should improve. This team can play with anyone. Prediction - Alabama 24 - Arkansas 17

Oct. 15 - at Tennessee -For the first time in 10 years the Vols may have the better team. In addition, they are playing this game in Knoxville. Prediction - Tennessee 13 - Alabama 10

Oct. 22 - Texas A&M -In last season's game, the Tide returned three interceptions for touchdowns, definitely assisting them in their 41-23 road win.

The Aggies will be coming off a bye but so are many of Alabama's foes.Prediction - Alabama 20 - Texas A&M 14

Nov. 5 - at LSU -If they played this game in Tuscaloosa, I believe Bama would win. But they play it in Tiger Stadium this year...Prediction - LSU 14 - Alabama 13

Nov. 12 - Mississippi State -This one will be played in Tuscaloosa.Prediction - Alabama 31 - Mississippi State 17

Nov. 19 - Chattanooga -Prediction - Alabama 51 - Chattanooga 7

Nov. 26 - Auburn -After beginning the year ranked sixth in the nation, Auburn struggled to finish 7-6 and were never a factor in the SEC race.

Expect the Tigers to be improved in 2016 but the Tide is still the best team in Alabama and wins this one. Prediction - Alabama28 - Auburn 21

Every year Alabama loses talented players to the NFL and graduation. They occasionally lose a coach as well. What I think makes this year different -- other than the players lost to the NFL -- is Kirby Smart and Mel Tucker going to Georgia.Saban moved quickly to replace Kirby Smart with a high caliber defensive coordinator in Jeremy Pruitt. Pruitt is both a well respected coach and high energy recruiter. From an x and o perspective, he couldn't have done better.

The potential for a differenceinteam chemistry is there as it is every year. Yet somehow Saban overcomes. Even with all the players and coaches coming and going in the past, the Crimson Tide has rolled on. If Saban does it again this year, he truly is the greatest football coach ever.
