Simone Biles won five medals at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Four of the medals are gold, and the other one is bronze. Biles had one concern about the Olympics. After winning the medals, having fun with her team and meeting her celebrity crush Zac Efron, the 19-year-old gymnast was a little apprehensive about something. She had the honor of carrying the American flag during the Closing Ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games on Sunday, August 21. However, her concern was that the flag is twice her size.

Simone Biles honored to carry American flag

Biles was honored to be selected to be the flag bearer for the Closing Ceremony of the 2016 Olympics. People couldn't help but notice that Biles was much shorter than the America flag when she led Team USA into Maracana Stadium. She managed to carrythe flag, but previously she thought it would be an issue. She mentioned that Michael Phelps, who led the team into the stadium during the Opening Ceremony, is much taller than she is. Phelps had already returned to the United States and was not in Closing Ceremony parade.

Simone Biles carries flag almost twice her size

Biles was concerned that the flag would be too heavy for her. The flag weighs .65 pounds, and the pole weighs 1.8 pounds. That's a total weight of only 2.5 pounds. So, the weight was not the issue. The issue was that the flag on its pole was 9 feet long. That isalmost twice as tall as the 4-foot-8 gymnast.

Carrying the flag was a good act to follow after Simone' winningperformances. Biles was the first gymnast to carry the U.S. flag since 1936. Additionally, she was the shortest to ever have been given that honor.

What's next for Simone Biles?

Biles says she isn't ruling anything out for the Olympic team for Tokyo's 2020 Summer Games. In the meantime,Biles and the other four members of the Final Five are scheduled to go on the Tour of Champions. The team will visit 36 United States cities over a three-month period. Perhaps they will visit a city near you. Before the tour begins, Biles said she is going on lots of vacations and do some things she couldn't do while training for the Olympic Games.

Some of those activities include cliff diving, snowboarding, and skiing.
