The MLB All-Star game is just around the corner, set to take place on Tuesday July 12 at Petco Park in San Diego, CA, home of the San Diego Padres. It will be the third time that San Diego has hosted the MLB All-Star game and the first one since 1992.

Since the Padres are in the National League, the National League All-Star will get the start and try to make up for last year's loss to the American League in Cincinnati.

National League lineup

The National League All-Star team features eight players from the NL Central leading Chicago Cubs. What makes it more amazing is that the starting infield is all composed of Cubs players and one Cub in the outfield.

Anthony Rizzo is at first base, Ben Zobrist starts at second base, Kris Bryantat third base, andfirst timer Addison Russell starting at shortstop.

Cubs center fielder Dexter Fowler, in his first All-Star appearance, also is in the lineup. Starting pitchers Jake Arrieta and Jon Lester are also representing the National League. Arrieta, who is appearing as an All-Star for the first time, has had an incredible season so far, with a 12-3 record,a 2.33 ERA, and 115 strikeouts in 17 starts, including throwing a no-hitter on April 21 against the Cincinnati Reds, whileLester is making his fourth All-Star appearance.

More recognizable names in the NL starting lineup include Washington Nationals right fielder Bryce Harper, who is batting .261 with 19 HR's and 52 RBI's, San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey, who's batting .289, and New York Metsoutfielder Yoenis Cespedes, who has a .303 batting average with 21 HR's.

The reserves on the team also includes Padres first baseman Wil Myers, making his first All-Star appearance, and Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt. The pitching staff includes Giants starter Johnny Cueto, Miami Marlins ace Jose Fernandez, Atlanta Braves starter Julio Teheran, and Met's pitcher Noah Syndergaard.

There have recently been a last few minute replacements, such was Nationals ace pitcher Max Scherzer replacing fellow teammate and Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg, who's coming off time on the disabled list, and Met's pitcher Bartolo Colon, who's replacing Giants starter Madison Bumgardner. In his last trip to San Diego on May 7, Colon made history, becoming the oldest player to hit his first career home run.

American League lineup

The American League All-Star starting lineup is another interesting on, as it includes four Boston Red Sox players, including designated hitter David Ortiz, in his last season, and batting .337 and leading the league in doubles with 34, and right fielder Mookie Betts, who's leading the American League in total bases with 197.

Other starters include Anaheim Angels outfielder Mike Trout, who's batting .321, and Houston Astros second basemanJose Altuve, whobatting a league leading .347 and 117 hits, also leading the league.
