The recent return of Seth Rollins to WWE television means that all three former members of The Shield are once again active on the WWE roster. Not only that, Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose have all been booked for WWE Money in the Bank 2016 already. Collectively, their three young careers make a rather impressive MITB résumé.

This year, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns defends his title against former champ Seth Rollins, who was never defeated for the belt himself.

Meanwhile, Dean Ambrose will be one of seven competitors hoping to grab the contract in the MITB Ladder Match. In theory, Ambrose could win the contract and then cash it in the same night, leading to a Triple Threat Match main event featuring all three former members of The Shield.

What follows is one part in a series of Money in the Bank History articles, in which we take a look at a current or former WWE Superstar's history (such as John Cena and Randy Orton) at MITB, and what their past experiences might tell us about that same (or a similar) competitor at WWE MITB 2016 on June 19.

MITB ladder matches

All three men have been involved in multiple Ladder Matches related to the Money in the Bank contract and event. Ambrose has competed in the MITB Ladder Match twice in 2013 and 2014, unsuccessful both times. Reigns was in last year's match and walked away empty-handed.

In 2014, Rollins won the only MITB Ladder Match he's ever competed in. He would go on to cash in during the main event of WrestleMania 31, pinning Roman Reigns to take Brock Lesnar's title.

Other MITB matches

In 2013, Rollins and Reigns successfully defended the WWE Tag Team Championships against The Usos. In 2014, Roman Reigns competed in a Ladder Match for the vacated title, but the match was won by John Cena. Headlining last year's Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Ladder Match against Dean Ambrose.

Worthy competition

Looking strictly at fellow competitors in MITB Contract Ladder Matches, the list isn't actually all that impressive. Randy Orton and Kane are the biggest names on the list, followed by Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, Rob Van Dam, Cesaro and Kofi Kingston.

In the ladder match for the vacated title, Reigns was up against Cena, Orton, Kane, Del Rio, Sheamus, Wyatt and Cesaro.

Most memorable MITB moment

Of all things related to Money in the Bank and The Shield, the most memorable moment would have to be when Seth Rollins cashed in his MITB contract during the main event of WrestleMania 31, as Brock Lesnar defended the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns. After taking the title that night, Rollins was never defeated for the belt.

He was forced to drop the title due to the injury that he just returned from.

Predictions for MITB 2016

Seth Rollins has never lost at Money in the Bank. He successfully defended the tag team titles in 2013, won the MITB contract in 2014 and defended the world title in 2015. On the other hand, the only time Roman Reigns has been able to win at MITB was the year he teamed with Seth Rollins. Given just that information, all signs would point towards Rollins regaining the title from Reigns.

Of course, this isn't the Undertaker at WrestleMania, so there's no reason to think the "streak" needs to live on. If the WWE is going to have Reigns drop the title to Rollins, it will probably be after the feud has lasted longer than a month. And what about Dean Ambrose? He's never won at MITB. But if the WWE wants to build towards a Shield Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam 2016, then perhaps the old adage "third time's a charm" will ring true for Ambrose, allowing the Lunatic Fringe to go by "Mr. Money in the Bank" for a few months.

WWE Money in the Bank 2016 airs live on the WWE Network on June 19.
