Marcus Mariota

After the worst season in franchise history, the Tennessee Titans are looking forward to the 2016 season. One of the only positives from last season was a high draft pick and the play of Marcus Mariota. As a Heisman trophy winner out of Oregon, the expectations for Mariota were sky high. Luckily for the Titans, he was able to hit those expectations and help the Titans win a few games. The Titans had a great draft, and now they look to build upon the success of their young quarterback.

Before the draft, the Titans traded away the number one pick to St. Louis. This is regarded as one of the biggest trades in the history of the NFL draft.

The Titans received a ton of picks, and in the first round they traded back up to get Jack Conklin out of Michigan State. The coaches loved his work ethic and attitude, and they are hoping that the Titans can get better pass protection for their young quarterback. If not, it is likely that he will get hurt again this season.

Runningback help

Another major factor that should increase the success of the 2016 Titans is their running back play. The Titans drafted Derrick Henry in the second round of the draft, and they also picked up a huge free agent in Murray. With the help of both of these players, the running game should be vastly improved against last year. If it is not, it is going to be difficult for the Titans to score points.

Defenses will start to zone in on Mariota, and he needs some more help around him on offense.

Secondary play

The Titans' secondary was one of the worst in the NFL last year. It is hard to imagine this group performing worse than last year, but there really are not a lot of new faces. The front seven of the defense is strong, and they will be relied on to help the secondary.

If the team can get to opposing quarterbacks, they have a much better chance of stopping other offenses. If not, it is going to be another long year for the Titans. The good news is that they have 2 first round draft picks again this year, and they will continue to rebuild for the future under Mariota.
