Manchester United transfer nets star

Now, former Villarreal defender Eric Bailly has officially passed his medical examinations leading up to his eventual move to Manchester United, to suit up at Old Trafford. Drawing interest from more than a handful of clubs, it's projected that the cost of obtaining the talent of the Ivory Coast national will be somewhere within the ballpark of 30M Euro. This may very well be the first step in Jose Mourinho's grand plan to put Manchester back on the map following his own arrival, and, securing the 22-year-old Bailly wouldn't be a bad place to start.

Eric Bailly: a brief history

Since turning pro at the age of 17, first suiting up for Espanyol, Bailly has continued to improve his game, recently culminating in a rather impressive 2015-2016 season which saw both he and Villarreal back in the Champions League while securing a top 4 finish. Physically, Bailly is quick, strong, and thrives in one-on-one situations. After sustaining an injury while his former team lost in the semi-final of the Europa League, he appears to be back to his old form, and will no doubt help his new club as they seek to leave the Van Gaal era firmly in the past.

Manchester City eyeing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Manchester City are progressing in their talks to secure Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.

As the Bundesliga Player of the Year, Aubameyang has been one of the most sought after prospects in this transfer window, with ties to Real Madrid. but Real may wind up with the short end of the stick if City ends up with the Gabon striker.

Aubameyang's stock has soared of late thanks to his incredible performance last season, which saw him put the ball through the net 25 times in a total of 29 games.

There's no question that new City boss Pep Guardiola wants Aubameyang as part of his squad, and, with the recent signing of midfielder Gundogan, it would add to what would be a rather stacked roster.

And, as an added benefit for the fans, it'll be interesting to see how everything plays out as both Guardiola and Mourinho look to build the superior squad and outdo one another.
