Notre Dame

Notre Dame is one of the most decorated college Football programs of all time. During the course of their program, the Fighting Irish have had a lot of success. There are many fans anxious for the upcoming season. In their week 1 matchup, the Irishget to face a Texas team hungry to prove itself. Although Texas did beat Oklahoma last year, there was still a lot to the season that left fans with a bad taste in their mouth. These two teams played last year, and the score really was not close. The Irish have a sizable talent and experience advantage over the Texas Longhorns.

They go into the season with a great offensive line, defense, and experienced quarterback play.

These are all strengths that match up well with Texas. Few people think that they are going to lose this opening game. However, there are some things to think about if you are a fan. Jaylon Smith has gone on to the NFL, and this is a major loss. He was one of the most talented players in the entire draft, and without an injury he would have gone much earlier than he did. Notre Dame needs to come out swinging, and knock out Texas early.

Texas: Can the rebuild start?

Ever since winning a national title in 2005, Texas has been an afterthought in the national conversation. This is especially concerning for Longhorn fans because rival Oklahoma is now a national power. Even though the Longhorns have a great recruiting base, there seems to be trouble within the program.

Coach Charlie Strong has not brought winning to Austin like many fans had hoped. The pressure is red hot for winning, and with another bad year, many people believe that he will be on the hot seat. This is not good news for Texas, as they would have to start all over in their rebuilding process. Texas has even fallen behind Arkansas, who destroyed them in a bowl game a couple seasons ago.

Over the long term, Texas will recover. But it will not be in time for this week 1 matchup. Notre Dame should win this game, and i think they will win easily.

Prediction: Notre Dame 27 - 13
