The Spaniard`s left wrist injury seems to be quite serious. Rafael Nadal was forced to withdraw from the French Open due to the same medical issue. At that moment, it is shocking news for everyone. Nadal won his first three encounters on the Parisian clay, but his left wrist stopped any further progress. In his statement, he spoke about this matter, highlighting the crucial importance of his recovery.

But things aren't good at all. Yesterday, Nadal announced that after he did some medical tests, the diagnosis is quite concerning. His wrist still needs to rest, so he`ll not be able to compete at 2016 Wimbledon. It is the second time the Spaniardhas been forced to withdraw from London's grass court tournament. Back in 2009, Rafael was also forced to skip Wimbledon. In that case, it was his knee injury giving him a hard time. To be more specific, Nadal`s knees were harmed through tendinitis which is an inflammation of the tendons.

No Wimbledon glows lately.

At theWimbledon Championship, in the past couple of years, Nadal didn`t have too much to say on the Tennis court. Of the previous four editions, his best result occurred in 2014, when he reached the fourth round. Still, he clinched the title twice back in 2008 andsubsequently in 2010. He also made it to the final on other three occasions back in 2006, 2007 and 2011.

Two months ago, Nadal`s expectations were high.

His playing pace kept getting better and better, the titles started piling up in his pocket. But, his perpetual health problems struck again. Throughout his career, Nadal has been dealing with both knees injuries, but also with his right wrist issues.

Still, there is a beam of light.

According to the ranking, the former ATP leader resides on the fourth place. It happened mostly due to Stan Wawrinka`s inability to defend the huge pile of points from last year.

But, Nadal has little to defend in the following months. At 2015 Wimbledon, he suffered an early exit in the second round. Moving forward, at the US Open, he will also have to defend last year`s result, namely reaching the 3rd round. Overall, his place in the ranking might revolve around the top 5 even if he will not play soon.
