The teams are finally set for the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals. Yesterday, the NHL announced the schedule for the series. The games will begin in Pittsburgh on Monday.

Penguins and the Sharks

On Thursday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. With a final score of 2-1, the Penguins will be in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 2009. In 2009, the Penguins were up against the Detroit Redwings in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Penguins won the seven game series 4-3 and became the 2009 Stanley Cup Champions.

It was a repeat of 2008, when the same two teams were up against each other to become the champs, but in 2008, the Redwings took home the cup.

First appearance.

Prior to that, the Penguins were in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1991 and 1992, and they were the Stanley Cup Champions both of those years.  This year, the Penguins will be meeting up with the San Jose Sharks, who took out the Saint Louis Blues in six games during the Western Conference Finals.
