The basketball tournaments at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games 2016 will start on August 6, 2016 (Saturday) and continue till August 21. In other words, the basketball matches in Rio 2016 will start the day after the opening ceremony and will end the day of the closing ceremony.

USA men’s and women’s basketball teams will go into the tournament as favourites for gold once again.

Between 4 and 10 July the final three teams will be decided: two of them will join group A, where they will be facing Australia, China, Venezuela and United States' teams.

Rio Olympics news: official song released, ticket started to be sent out

The Rio 2016 organising committee launched the official olympic torch's song on May 20, 2016. The title of the song is "Via de Viajante" ("Life of a Traveller"). The song written by Luiz Gonzaga (1912-1989) has been updated by mixing 6 musical genres typical of Brazil.

As stated on the official website of the olympic games, "The words of Luiz Gonzaga [...] eternalised in the song Life of a Traveller, today dictates the rhythm of the 12,000 people who are carrying the Rio 2016 Olympic Torch" all over the state.

On May 20, the look of the tickets for the Olympic Games has been unveiled. During May 20, moreover, the tickets for Rio 2016 started to be sent out. As the Olympic Games' president Carlos Nuzman said, " the tickets will begin to be sent out from the graphic design company and somewhere in the world someone will receive the first ticket".
