Police in Redondo Beach, California have confirmed that Chyna has passed away, having been found in her apartment today. Police stated that they were notified by her friend who went to her house to check on her but found the starto be unresponsive. The reason of her death hasn’t been confirmed or announced, but police state that there isn’t any sign of violence or foul play.

"It is with deep sadness to inform you that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joanie Laurer aka Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world, has passed away," stated a post released on her official website.

Who wasChyna?

After she graduated from Tampa University, Chyna began training in the professional Wrestling world and during 1996, she was called the "Rookie of the Year for the Women's Championship,"based on information mentioned on her website.

She participated in some of the most important wrestling tournaments in the world such as Royal Rumble and King of the Ring contests. She was also the only unbeatable Women's Champion throughout the history of the WWF.

Since her death, many wrestlers have announced their condolences and are upset over what happened.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Chyna. She always treated me really well #Rip9thWonder," wrestler James Storm tweeted.

"She was pioneer in the wrestling industry and we are definitely going to miss her. #RIPChyna," wrestler Stephanie McMahon tweeted.

Even though she mainly focused on wrestling, she also liked taking part in the entertainment world.

Chyna has appeared in many television shows, music videos, and had some roles in films. Her autobiography was released during 1991.The autobiography consisted of information about her life and how she truly broke barriers for women and accomplished what many women couldn’t do before in the wrestling world.

During 2005, she was arrested for being violent towards her previous boyfriend, Sean Waltman who is also a wrestler. The incident took place after she returned from a trip from the playboy mansion in LA.

Chyna grew up in a troubled home and she had confessed before on The Surreal Life that she was extremely depressed tothe point where she attempted suicide by consuming pills and that even though she is veryfamous, she doesn’t really have true friends.

However, she later on accused the producers of the show of fabricating what she said so they could get views.
