While most people may expect the Cleveland Cavaliers to come out of the Eastern Conference and contend for a title for a second straight year largely unscathed, the fact of the matter is that it may not be so easy for the King and company to waltz their way back into a shot at the title. While it's also true that the first round of playoff action is usually dull and predictable, there's always a chance that an underdog might make waves and potentially knockout a title favorite. Here's a preview of the opening day festivities of the 2016 NBA playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

Toronto Raptors (2) vs. Indiana Pacers (7) (12:30 PM EST)

There may not be too many surprises in this series. The Toronto Raptors have been on quite a tear in the last year or so of play, and it can be argued that outside of Paul George playing at an All-Star level and putting up huge numbers, the Pacers don't have enough fire power across the board to contend with the backcourt of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, nor the well-rounded attack of the Raptor's roster.

There is a chance that Monta Ellis may catch fire and that he'll be able to take some of the offensive load off of Paul George's shoulders, but ultimately he's always been a streaky player lacking consistency. Add to this his older legs, and you begin to see a clearer picture of what will likely be an early playoff exit for Indiana.

Prediction: Toronto goes up 1-0

Atlanta Hawks (4) vs. Boston Celtics (5) (7PM EST)

While the Atlanta Hawks are not quite as explosive this year as they were last, they definitely still have enough pieces and enough talent on their roster to make some noise and have a good run this year.

It remains to be seen whether or not they can muster the same results they did last season and find themselves once again in the Eastern Conference finals, but there's no denying that they certainly have the talent to do so.

As for the Celtics, they've been something of a conundrum this season. While they do have a core group of young talent poised for the future, and while they have shown flashes of brilliance, their youth can sometimes turn against them as they have issues at times with consistency.

Ultimately, this should be an interesting match-up.

Prediction: Atlanta takes the series lead at 1-0
