Maria Sharapova, the gorgeous Russian Tennis player, dropped a bombshell and revealed on March 07, 2016, that she has been tested positive for the banned substance 'Meldonium' in January. Now, the latest News from the corner is the backfire of this revelation.According to reports, Sharapova is losing top sponsors due to the failed drug test. Many sponsors have already distanced themselves from the five-time Grand Slam winner which has shocked her fans and well-wishers.

Some of the leading sponsors who dropped their contract with the Russian beauty are watch manufacturer TAG Heuer and German car maker Porsche.

A day back, Nikealso dropped their deal with Sharapova.

Sharapova has been taking 'Meldonium' for the past nine years, and it became a banned substance on January 01, 2016.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) included this drug in the banned list, as it is known for enhancing the performance of players while playing.Dick Pound, the ex- President of WADA, said that many players have been using this drug for performance enhancement, as it increases oxygen movement to muscles.

Sharapova press conference:

Eight athletes have been tested positive as of now, and WADA believes that more people are expected to come under this list. Some experts in the advertising sector believe that this could be the end of Sharapova's brand endorsements. They are of the opinion that many young talents are coming in the International arena, and what is the point in sticking with Sharapova, who is facing these kinds of allegations.

WADA claims Maria behaved carelessly even after she was given warnings more than four times to stop using the drug.Sharapova was informed thrice by the ITF and two times by the Women’s Tennis Association that the drug will be outlawed from 2016.This information was sent to all the players.

According to Forbes, the endorsement earnings of Sharapova amount to more than $23M.

As Sharapova enters the latter half of her career, it'll be interesting to see what kind of impact this has on the remainder of it (if any).
