Leicester star Jamie Vardy scored two goals to keep his team in the top spot of the Premier League following a well deserved 2-0 win over Liverpool at the King Power Stadium. It was their second victory over Jurgen Klopp’s side in the 2015/16 Premiership season. England International Jamie Vardy (who is close to signing a new three year contract with the Foxes) showed his real value against a strong team once again.

The top goalscorer of the league added another two goals to his record, but it was his second goal, which will probably be considered in the contest for the goal of the season.

Can Leicester win the Premier League title?

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri decided to name the same line-up that demolished Stoke City 3-0 in the last Premier League game. The selection proved that Ranieri clearly knows what he's doing and knows what it takes to win, as his team dominated the game from the first minute.

First, the biggest sensation of the season, Riyad Mahrez executed a perfect curling free-kick, but his 20 yard effort missed the target. A few minutes later Jamie Vardy burst clear down on the wing to deliver a perfect cross to his teammate, Shinji Okazaki, but his header was saved by Simon Mignolet.

Mahrez, who caused Liverpool’s defense problems all game tried his luck in the 14th minute when he fired a volley straight at the Belgian goalkeeper, who showed his great skills as he saved the shot. Jurgen Klopp’s side came close when their left-back Alberto Moreno tried to beat the keeper just before halftime.

Vardy's spectacle

In the second half Liverpool had another great opportunity to take the lead, but after the great combination of passing between James Milner and Jordan Henderson, Emre Can fired a strong shot that missed the goal. Leicester decided to slow down the pace but they're always a threat with their fast counterattacks.

Finally, in the 60th minute Jamie Vardy proved his value for the team, as he took advantage of Dejan Lovren’s mistake to make it 1-0 for his side.

Vardy smashed a bouncing ball with the first-time shot from 25 yards out, giving Mignolet absolutely no chance to protect his team from conceding. Vardy doubled the lead eleven minutes later when he latched onto a deflected shot to put the ball into the net for the second time, and it was enough to beat Liverpool.
