Sevilla took control of their Copa del Rey semi-final after a 4-0 victory against Celta Vigo in the first game at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan stadium. Two goals from Kevin Gameiro, one from Adil Rami, and one scored by Michael Krohn-Dehli forged Sevilla in comfortable position before the revenge in Celta.

In the first few minutes of the game, Sevilla decided to take control by putting considerable pressure, with players Timothee Kolodziejczak, Krohn-Dehli, Ever Banega, and Steven Nzonzi all missing the target. Despite Sevilla’s domination in the first half, the visitors were always a threat on the counter-attack, with fast players on the wings and at the striker position.

Interesting semi-final

The offensive style of play payed off for Sevilla, as they were awarded a penalty-kick in the 27th minute, following a hard foul on Vitolo, but the shot from the penalty spot was saved by Celta’s goalkeeper Ruben Blanco. A few minutes later the visitors responded by hitting the crossbar after aSergi Gomez header, but it was not enough to open the score.

In the 45th minute,Sevilla finally took the lead when Adil Rami thumped home a header from Ever Banega’s curling corner-kick. It wasn’t the prettiest finish, but the most important thing is that it was effective. The goalkeeper couldn’t do much to save his team from conceding, as the ball was fired into the top corner of the goal.

Second half

In the second half Sevilla continued to push forward and in the 59th minute Kevin Gameiro managed to redeem himself, as he scored twice in a period of only three minutes. The first goal was the result of a brilliant one-two game between the Frenchman and Banega just outside the penalty box.

Gameiro took advantage of terrible marking by the defenders, as he lofted a perfect curling shot into the top corner past the goalkeeper. Before the opponents even had time to recover, they were losing 3-0. Again, Kevin Gameiro was too hard to mark for the defenders, when he hammered a high shot over the goalie.

In the last minutes of the game Sevilla scored once again. This time it was Michael Krohn-Dehli, who made Sevilla's fans happy after he found the net with a beautiful shot just two minutes before the end of the game.
