There seems to be a new sport in China.

Two teenage male elephants compete for the same girl.

Here's what happens to the loser.

Inside the Head of a Teenage Male Elephant

"Boy is she cute. "

"I hope she doesn't mind me saying she's cute."

"Ohhh ... I am coming.  I am coming. Can you move out here in the open? I don't care who's watching."

"Come on. Come on.  Arrghhh! Please don't be so hard to get."

If there were a year of the elephant in China, this guy would be the poster boy ... NOT!

Recipe for Disaster

Two elephants were led to a 'friend zone' where an 8-year old female was waiting. Presumably she was dressed up in a Star Wars costume befitting of the season.

Got that picture in your mind? Two teenage male elephants competing for the heart of one female elephant. One of them is going home unhappy.

Sure enough, the loser went stomping out of the wild elephant valley at the Yexianggu nature preserve and went looking for another object to fulfill his lust, um, desires, er, affections.

"OOoo!

Isn't that one cute? Shiny grey like me. And look at those round, soft, nubile legs. Never seen that before."

Twenty minutes and 15 cars and vans later, the elephant took to the woods having released his, um, pent up feelings.

Cameras and Tourists Recording What?

Tourists cheered. Seriously?! Who watches as animals mate? With a car?

And someone, bless their heart, thought to get out their camera phone and record the event for posterity. Who does that sort of thing?

"Can I see your home videos from your recent trip?"

"Sure.

Lemme show you this video clip of Dumbo's distant Chinese relative."

Mom, Dad and Kids Talk Birds and Bees, um, Elephants

Don't you wonder about the conversation in the car with mom and dad up front and the 2 kids in the back seat?

"Mommy. Why is that elephant climbing up on our car?"

"Ask your daddy."

"Mommy, why is the elephant making that noise?"

"Ask your daddy."

"Mommy. Why is the elephant in such a hurry?"

"Ask your daddy."

"Mommy!!!

What's that?"

"Ask your daddy!"

Teenage boys and elephants. Not too different it seems. Both really love cars.

And neither is likely to forget too soon an experience like this.
