Before December 2015, Ronda Rousey was the undefeated champion of her division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

The UFC is a competition that allows participants to use a variety of mixed martial arts to win. It started in the United States in 1993 and has now become a worldwide event with ten weight divisions attracting a large number of competitors.

Rousey competes in the bantamweight division and up until her loss to Holly Holm December 2015 at UFC 193, Rousey was unbeaten having won her previous 12 matches.

On the night, she was clear favorite but was surprisingly brought down by a second-round knockout.

The tough and strong woman, who was at the top of her game, openly declared that after her loss she thought of killing herself. She made the shocking revelation in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on February 16.

She sat in the corner of the medical room and questioned what she was doing. She thought that she was nothing and that she was useless.

Rousey thought that no one would want to know her now she was a loser

It was when she caught sight of her boyfriend, Travis Browne that her thoughts began to clear. Seeing him made her realise that she had a future and something to live for.

Rousey told DeGeneres that it was the lowest point of her life and that she couldn’t understand why it had happened.

She also admitted that winning all the time might not be the best thing for her or anyone else.

Rousey says she believes that the best things in life come from the worst situations.

The loss from Holm caused her these moments of reflection where she literally had to pick herself up off the floor.

While the loss was clearly a shock to Rousey, she is not a quitter

She looks forward to a re-match one day with Holm where she can “make everything right again.”

The fight between Rousey and Holm was the most attended in the history of the game.

56,214 people filled Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia on the night.

While Rousey waits, Holm will defend her title on March 5 in Las Vegas against Miesha Tate at the UFC 196.
